Sweet Indulgence on Coxwell closed?

Went by Sweet Indulgence today and there's a sign in the windowing saying they owe $$. Not sure how long it's been like that, but the shelves are barren and other than the furniture and equipment it looks pretty empty.

Just curious if anyone has heard anything.

I need a new bakery to go to near by (east york/danforth/ lesliville area).. For little GOOD pastries, cookies and tarts?

I'd try Coffee Coffee/Cozy bakery, I haven't had a bad item yet and am diligently working my way through their wares. Celena's is a bit more hit and miss, their cookies are like rocks, they tend to excel at breads.

I also really enjoy their croissants and danishes. The peanut butter cookie I had a week ago was pretty good... certainly not like a rock, thankfully.

Well, that is the information we know from what was put on the door, but businesses have far more complex finances than just that.

While I enjoyed the few things I bought from there well enough, I never saw much traffic in the place. Alas, I never tried the butter tarts, or else I might have been a regular!

I'd only been into Sweet Indulgences a couple times, but everything I tried was pretty amazing. It's a shame that they're gone, given that they'd apparently been around for more than 20 years.

But there's a shift going on in East York right now that will likely (unfortunately) bury more of these longstanding businesses in the coming months/years... namely, more bakeries/restos/other food places opening along Danforth East, where they're easily accessible to both motorists and transit users. The old retail villages along Coxwell/Donlands/etc aren't drawing the same traffic as they used to.

It's SO sad! I too went by this week and am going to seriously miss their butter tarts. There is a new place on the Danforth west of Woodbine called Celena's with some decent baked goodies, as well as a little gem called Coffee Coffee on the south side of Danforth west of Woodbine. Nothing as good as Sweet Indulgence though...
