Brew pub to open in Manasquan?
Heard a rumor that a brew pub may be opening on Main street in Squan, if approved by the town council. Can anyone shed some light on this?

According to their opentable listing the restaurant was sold.

If I had to guess, I'd say its the new format for Mahogany Grill. I know there former chef was let go and I heard they were changing their style. The owners also own Harvest Moon brew pub in New Brunswick.

A couple weeks ago, some residents were given notice of an application to operate a microbrewery in Manasquan (in the old buildings across Main Street from the Train Station). I do not know who filed the application. The location would be suitable for making beer, but not a restaurant.

re: MGZ
Kane Brewing Co. owned by Ortley Beach resident Michael Kane (as MGZ notes, a brewery, not a brewpub) but looks like it's getting major NIMBY opposition.

Yes. The deal closed on Sunday. Saturday was the last service for the old crew. The new owners are a couple from Spring Lake. They own a B&B - can't recall which one. I met one of the owners yesterday.
They plan on doing some minor renovations but will keeping it as a fine dining restaurant. I believe the new chef spent some time at Black Trumpet and Whispers. I didn't recognize the name.
It sounds like they have a good background, I hope they are successful. I'd love a great place I could walk to if I wanted.
