Savaga/Burnsville dinner spot?

Dear MSP Hounds,

I need to find a restaurant in Savage/Burnsville/south Bloomington (approximately the mid-point between South Mpls and Prior Lake) for a casual dinner meeting on a week night. That is not exactly a gourmet land, I know, and in fact, I am not looking for a fancy place at all. Grand Szechuan in Bloomington may be too spicy for some in the group. I think we will do fine at Buca di Beppo in Burnsville. Is Roasted Pear in Burnsville any good? I am considering Parick's Bakery and Cafe on Bloomington, even though it is a bit more north than some in the group would prefer. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

  1. Spice Thai in Savage is solid, and you can control spice level.

I have been to the Giuseppes in New Brighton, and would rate that well above Buca. I can't tell if the Burnsville Giuseppes is a sister restaurant or not. Certainly looks like it's worth a try.

I had a couple of good meals at Spice. My favorite item was the shrimp salad. I didn't care for the chicken wings.

    2. Here's a few that I'd for down that way for you that are good options for some casual dining...

      Axel's Bonfire Grill - 13/42 in Savage
Buffalo Tap - 13 in Savage
Tin Shed - 13/101 in Savage
El Loro - 13 in Savage

      1. This is my neck of the woods. Roasted Pear is average. You won't hate it, but it's not interesting in any way. Chateau Lamothe/Marceal's Wine Bar across 42 would be more interesting and unique, albeit still not world-class chow. If Buca is in play, Giuseppe's near the County 42 and Lac Lavon/County 11 intersection is better (an not related to the New Brighton place).

Jensen's Cafe or Mediterranean Cruise Cafe would be my "go to" places for things like this. Easy access from both north and south and a bit more inspired food than the places listed above and/or chains. If this was my decision, I would go with Med. Cruise unless it's a night they have belly dancing which might diminish the "meeting" aspect of your meal.

The location of Spice Thai definitely favors the Prior Lake folks which would make me suggest just sending the So. Mpls crew down to Perron's Sul Lago in Prior Lake proper which is one of the better restaurants of any kind in the south metro.
