Which bakery has the best Italian style bakery pizza with tomato sauce only?

  1. I haven't tried it in that many places, but I really like the tomato pizza base at Molisana on Somerled in NDG. I add my own toppings and it's quite delicious. Strangely perhaps, I actually prefer their day-old, discounted, pizza, as I find the fresh ones just a bit too puffy for my tastes.

I second Kpzoo's rec. It is definitely delish - whether you jazz it up with your own toppings or eat as is - hot or cold. Yummmmm

    2. I like Roma in Little Italy, and they also have ones with toppings.

      1. NDG Bakery at 5801 Upper Lachine Rd. makes a good tomato-sauce pizza. It's wise to go early, and maybe even call ahead: 514 481-4215.

It's a bit out of the way for most people, and I have to add the caveat that I haven't been there in a while for that reason, but they make great slab pizzas, including a tomato-sauce-only one, at Salerno (2411 Charland, 514 384-9142). Open 24/7 last I checked. Unfortunately most of the regular breads looked far better than they tasted, but the pastries were very good. Again, I haven't been in a good couple of years, so take this for what it's worth.
