Now that it's been open (and yes, I know not 6 weeks), any first impressions yet? We live nearby and wondering if it lives up to its own hype.
I recently went to Raku for dinner with a group, on a very quiet Thurs eve. We thought we'd have the most attentive service, since there were only 4 other tables full in the whole restaurant. But, unfortunately the service was terrible! There was a definite language barrier, and we probaby had 5 different servers through out the eve. We waited 30 mins before recieving our drinks, while waiting the bartender was watching TV (drinks left nothing to be desired.) The food on the other hand was delish! Excellent sushi, very fresh. The fruit on our salad was not at all ripe but, the salad was tasty. Im really hoping that they step up their service and get it together, if not they don't have a chance at surviving on 50th and France. Good luck to them!
I went here for restaurant week & found ordering off the menu was less expensive than the restaurant week special (quite a refreshing surprise for a Japanese restaurant). The rolls were super tasty and came with good hunks of fish, but the drinks were overpriced and the service was S L O W (I actually had the remind the server about my drink after we got all our food - guess it turned into an apertif :/) .. so if you're in a patient mood go order some tasty rolls or their platters (that come with soup or salad), but skip the drinks!
