Best Ambience/Decor: Candle 79, Dirt Candy or Blossom

AgentRed Apr 15, 2010 10:40 PM

Hey folks,

I'm trying to decide between these three for a date on Saturday night. We've already done Pure Food and Wine a bunch of times and it's perfect but it would be cool to branch out.

So which of the above three are the most sleek, low lit, not too noisy but not dead either. I just hate going to vegetarian restaurants with vinyl tabletops and servers in slouchy wifebeaters, which is why Pure is so good. It's a vegetarian RESTAURANT, not the other way around.

Any an all suggestions appreciated, many thanks,

I really enjoyed the food at Dirt Candy. Ambience wise - it's quiet and intimate, but make sure you don't get the table at the back of the room that's right next to both the bathroom and the kitchen. I got seated there on my birthday - they won't switch your seat, which is understandable given the size of the place.

you have already gone on your date, no doubt, but Dirt Candy would fit the bill. Delicous food, personal service, good wine, perfect for intimate eating, with inventive cuisine and professional service, with an East Village downtown feel.

Candle 79 is one of our favorite restaurants and we are omnivores. Be sure to try the Chimchurri - appetizers, corn meal battered mushrooms/fried, seitan picata...and the polenta fries with homemade ketchup. They also have yummy deserts. We love the avacado/mint shake. They do book up so you need a reservation.
It is sleek and not too noisey at all. In fact, this is al around wonderful. We travel up from Brooklyn and always bring out of town friends in for a treat.
