I've never understood why people recommend Southport Raw Bar as a waterfront, great view, kinda place. What part of 'dead end of a rental apartment lined stagnant finger canal' don't you understand?

It's okay for what it is, but it ain't 'waterfront,' like Casablanca or Coconuts, and doesn't have a 'great view,' like Pier 66 or 3030.

Funky? Yes. Great vibe? Yes. Raw bar? Sports? Bands? Yes. But Waterfront or View? Not so much.

Yes but the half-price raw oysters for happy hour can't be beat!

    2. Whenever I want to eat on the water in Ft Lauderdale I go to Charlie's Crab. It's on the Intracoastal where you can watch the yachts pass by as you dine on excellent seafood. I have never been disappointed with the food or service. If you would rather go to a more casual place, I recommend Shooters which is right next door to Charlie's Crab. Shooters is more of a burgers and salads kind of place.

      1. coconuts is good, small but excellent menu. A lot of people swear by blue moon but I didn't think it was that good. There is Briny's at Riverwalk, it is pub food but you can watch the boats go by. Downtowner is also there, hit or miss on the food sometimes but the drinks are usually good.
