Vancouver Pancake recommendations?

I'd appreciate any good suggestions for pancakes in Vancouver, I prefer mine to be thicker and little doughy on the inside. Thanks, this board has been helpful in the past.

Jethro's Fine Grub (Dunbar & 18th). Pancakes are thick and fluffy; big as your head--try 'grandmas cakes' for cinnamon-y tenderness.

www.deaconscorner.ca in Gastown is a possibility. Jethro's Good Grub 22nd and Dunbar is another.

I don't eat pancakes for brekky unless I make 'em but I do have a list of places that serve them. Let me know if that would be helpful to you.

Thanks Philx Deacon's menu looks good.

Greyelf, if you could just list a couple places I'd appreciate it, I'm usually a bacon and eggs guy but sometimes crave a good pancake but cant find a consistantly good , reliable place.

Repeating the caveat that I have sampled the wares in question at exactly NONE of these places, here's a few ideas to try on your Pancake Odyssey :-).

Smile Restaurant, 424 W Pender -- deffo a greasy spoon

Also Teresa's on Commercial Bert's on Main, Docker's Diner on Powell and if you venture out to New West, Big 6, where the 'cakes are reportedly heavier and eggier. For something different if you find yourself on Bowen, I was intrigued by a late summer report in the Sun on the lemon ricotta pancakes at Artisan Eats Café & Fine Foods.

              I second Bert's on Main St (@ 13th)

Lots of under-the-radar greasy spoon diners in town have good traditional pancakes but it's one of those things that rarely get media attention, and dependent on your own trial & error discovery.

But there are outlets they do notice which are fairly reliable. Note these are quasi-Dutch "pannekoek":

Hi Philx: not to threadjack but can you provide a few deets about Jethro's. I've never heard of it and I'd like to add it to my brekky list :-). Also that area of town is thin on the ground for anywhere good to eat...

Happy to grayelf. It is a new arrival to the area and I got the name slightly wrong (Fine not good Grub); here are some details http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/151050... I have had a pulled pork sandwich there which was quite good and their chili is ok too. They serve breakfast all day. I get the impression they are trying to provide decent quality food with some exotic touches ( a few asian and southern dishes); the latter perhaps inspired by rambling of the cook. You are sure right about a lack of options in the area so I think Jethro's has a chance if they can provide good food consistently.
