Los Angeles Hound in Toms River/Manchester for Mothers Day?

Hi there,

Los Angeles Hound in Toms River/Manchester to visit Mom for Mothers Day. Took her last year to the much aclaimed Mariott Sea View for Mothers Day Brunch. Nice place, eh alright in my book :) but the food not so much. Any recs. that stand out, formal, informal is good too. She loves sea food.. Mom is in her 70's and has a good palate. Any tips would be nice.. Thanks in advance.

Welcome back to NJ; I recall your postings from earlier visits to our shores. The local food scene still has limited bright spots.

Bgut's suggestion on Bistro 44 is spot on. I was there again just this week and can report that among their many fine offerings they're still doing good things with duck.

Relatively new (perhaps since your last visit) is Daniel's Bistro in Point Pleasant Beach. I've been there a handful of times and it gets pretty good reviews on this board. On one of my nights there, they had fresh burrata which is the first and only time I've seen that offered at a restaurant in this area. ....ahh, I miss Osteria Mozza in LA!

Another great place to bring Mom is Atlantic Bar and Grill in South Seaside Park - fine dining next to the sand dunes. Also next to the water, but a little farther of a trip from Manchester, is Oyster Creek Inn, which remains a favorite of mine (and typically a Father's Day destination with my Dad).

Not sure whether this would be for Mom, but Salang Kabab House serves up home cooked Afghan food. That's one cuisine I don't recall seeing in my trips to LA.

Hi there, Thanks to all whom took the time to reply. I plan to try Bistro 44, sounds good. Does anyone here know of Chef Vola's in Atlantic City. I have a reservation for Mothers Day evening. Just curious if its as good as the hype..

I haven't been to Chef Vola's, but there have been several discussions on it in the past. Check this board and the Mid-Atlantic board, and include posts older than 12 months. One of them might even have the phone number I think.

I have to agree with bgut1 and Tapas52 - Bistro 44 right in the heart of Toms River would be an excellent choice, it is one of our favorites. Good luck with your selection which ever place you decide on.
