What part of Westchester do you prefer? What kind of party? What kind of food? Age ranges?

It's a Sat night Bat mitzvah. We would like it to be a cocktail/dessert party... Would like for it to be a dance party/ nightclub. It will be about 80 adults 50 kids..

There's a new place called Bounce: The Party Place. Not sure what the deal is with food/drinks, but the place is huge from what I've heard. http://www.bouncethepartyplace.com/in...

Don't know how many they can handle, but I know people who did a benefit at Vintage in White Plains and loved what they got. Although, being it was a benefit, the cost might have been lessened.

Globe in Larchmont has a great back room w/ DJ, bar, food, couches, etc. Haven't been in a while but Coughlan's in White Plains has a great "club" space with large bar and food. Peniche also has a downstairs "lounge" which is nice, but feels kind of "basement-y".

150 people at Peniche? At their prices? Good grief.

It's been noted here that Peniche is closed. Are they or aren't they?

No, they are not, but according to their website it is doubtful that party for 150 would work:

Restaurant Buyout: 200 Seated Reception – 300 Standing Reception*

Private Dining Room (main level): accommodating parties up to 65 people

Private Lounge/Pata Negra (lower level): accommodating parties for 30-120 people

*Buyout may not be available on all days, and is subject to food and beverage minimum.

Reading around. LoHud, Yelp, Zagat -- tiny bits of good food at high prices that leave one hungry.

It's expensive for those who aren't rich.

I guess it's just a matter of how you order. Small plates for large groups, with inexpensive sangria, has led me to many sub-$50 meals - and I don't think you have to be rich to pay that price for a great dining experience.

second that fully! I have eaten there multiple times where we have had full meals left full and had sangria for under $40 per person all inclusive! Thats's great imo. Granted we are not ordering the most expensive items all the time but nor are we skpping anything because of price--we just don't need filet or lobster, etc.

I don't think 150 people at a party want to watch their food intake nor drink inexpensive sangria.

I know I wouldn't. So, Peniche is still not a good choice for the OP's party.

let's rephrase then. Peniche has great sangria that happens not to be so expensive.

if it were my party then yes!! thanks for asking! the point is moot since they want a loft space I suppose. bottomline is peniche has a private space and some would consider it a good value depending upon what one orders. that is all.

Trust me, I've never watched my food intake. We ordered just about everything on the "small plates" side of the menu, and even ordered an entree or two, but had them split them up for sharing. There are tons of great options on the menu. And like 'cubanet' said, it's great sangria that doesn't cost much.

What about the Bronxville Woman's Club, which has great party rooms. I think there might be an associated caterer, but you can check with them. Also, given the current economy, I'll bet that many private clubs like Siwanoy would allow non-member events. Worth it to check local clubs for prices and avails.

My post was posting in error before I was finished w/ my comment. Apologies. What I was trying to say was that in years back, I was under the impression that that they would not allow non-members to host events there w/out a member as an event sponsor. I thought that was pretty strict. And, I had never, ever known anyone who had a bar/bat mitzvah there, but perhaps in recent years they have allowed these kind of events from non-members.

There have been both Bar and Bat Mitzvahs at Siwanoy and the Bronxville Field Club. However, my post was to point out that private clubs like Siwanoy are more open to non-member events in the current economic climate.

SUNY purchase is different. They have a black out room.
