Birmingham - Bagels

Where are the best bagels in town to be found? Crestline Bagel is ok; I've had the lox on everything which just ended up being too much.

Anyone tried this place? I guess the original is in Auburn.

I love the bagels at Continental Bakery, though they aren't boiled. I believe they're baked only. To me they're the best in town. We went to Blue Bagel, it was OK. The bagels just weren't anything special. If you're going to put bagel in your name, they need to be the best thing you do and they weren't. The veggie cream cheese was good though.

I went there (BB) for brunch the weekend before last and they were out of most of the cream cheeses and lots of the bagels. I ordered the breakfast plate with a salt bagel with the veggie cream cheese. The cream cheese was good, everything else was just ok.

Bagels, if not boiled, aren't really bagels. I'm fortunate enough to make it to Goldbergs Bagels in New Jersey every month or so, and have been spoiled. I've given up my search for a real bagel in Birmingham.

My favorite bagels are at the coffee shop in Edgewood. Cool Beans? I think that's the name. They are chewey and not as puffy and bready as some places.

I also like the new place Big Blue for bagels but don't care for the cream cheese they serve. Both times it has tasted off - like it's been sitting out a little too long. But the bagels are pretty good.

I don't care for lox, so I can't speak to that.

My daughter who eats bagels alot likes Crestline Bagel over Birmingham Bagel in crestline park but she still goes there

Daughter now says she likes Crestline Bagel for breakfast but B'ham bagel for dinner- LOVES the salmon bagel- going to B'ham bagel tonight

Big Blue is the name of it not Birmingham Bagel- it's on hagood street off of Euclid Avenue

I have not tried Klingler's, and don't even know if they make bagels. Otherwise Crestline is about as good as I've found around here. (Unfortunately the well-regarded bagel place in Cahaba Heights closed just before we moved there.)
Bagels these days are getting so bloated.
