The Diamond-Peanuts

So...the new happening spot in Vancouver....felt some of their cocktails were on the sweeter side (i.e. my bourbon sour was not as balanced as I'd like) but overall a great time, and impeccable service. However, those house peanuts are amazing!! Anybody been....or can shed light on how I may go about replicating??

  1. I haven't had it personally, but it has been described to me.

    I think they list it as "togarashi peanuts"?

    In that case I would purchase a bag of salty-sweet peanuts (or make your own by tossing salt, sugar, peanuts, a bit of oil in a medium-hot frying pan) and sprinkle it with some shichimi togarashi (seven spice pepper blend) that you can buy at most places that have a good selection of Japanese groceries. Or it could be as simple as tossing sugar, salt, togarashi, oil and peanuts together without frying. Experiment with it until it is to your liking.

      They are tasty for sure, though I seem to remember they were better when I first went on opening week. I'll have to try them again soon. What fmed describes them as is essentially what they are. I'd likely try the fry-your-own version with some togarashi.

        plus they have those delicious "cracker nuts" from my asian youth...lol
