Dinner for 10 on a tight budget....

So I'm finishing grad school...family and friends in town for celebratory dinner....
about 10 -12people, relatively cheap...and I'm guessing I'll have to make a reservation (on a Sunday).
I don't necessarily want to be downtown....
I'm thinking burgers, pasta -casual....
Perhaps you guys have more ideas than I do....
help.
(thank you!)

You could have lunch at Petit Robert Bistro which would be super cheap (served til 5PM), and even their dinners are <$20. Feels a little more celebratory than a pub/bar type place.

How about either the Dogwood Cafe in Jamaica Plain or Picco in the South End? Both are relatively spacious and have great food at good prices (the pizza at both is excellent, IMO).

How about dim sum? Both celebratory and cheap. If you want to do it in the evening, Winsor Dim Sum Cafe should work.

I would say dim sum too, or at least a great asian restaurant - you can always do a wonderful meal at a great price tag going asian.

What about Highland Kitchen in Somerville? They take reservations for groups larger than 6, are not too expensive, and have great food.

See what you think of Eastern Standard (some menu options probably too high) or Silvertone (not sure about a large group on Sunday night there)

Silvertone is way less expensive and they have a nice big table in a nook that might fit 10. Regardless, Sunday they would not be so crowded.

Bunch of us just at at Vinny's at night (76 Broadway Somerville) the atmosphere is a bit of an unusual combo, but the food was killer and well priced...
