i am looking for eggs produced by chickens that have been allowed to walk around eating bugs and worms in addition to the normal meals provided by the farmers. any ideas? it's sometimes hard to get a clear answer about what the chickens eat at the highland park farmer's market. anyone KNOW that their farmer's market egg purveyor has chickens that eat bugs? i know this may sound odd but it produces extremely orange, rich egg yolks. like in this picture.

you should definitely check with Healthy Family Farms if you haven't already.

Your best bet for all natural, free-range, pasture-raised chicken eggs, or eggs of any kind (duck, quail, goose, turkey, emu, etc.) for that matter is Peter Schaner of Schaner Farms in Valley Center, CA. He sells locally at the Wednesday Santa Monica Farmer’s Market on Arizona Ave. & 2nd St. between 8:30am and 1:30pm. Peter supplies a number of notable SoCal restaurants including Canele, Church & State and Palate. His eggs are delicious and they possess the characteristics that you seek. The Schaners are very trustworthy folks. I've dealt with them for years.
