I usually go to the Bay st. location (occasionally the Toront st location, but have been finding it incredibly pretentious lately), its been one of my favorite places for years, I love the food, especially the pizzas, and everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. The last couple of times i went i've waited almost an hour for my pizza, by the time it got to our table, it was luke warm, but burnt around the edges. The girl looking after us was extremely rude, i could never get anyones attention and on the way out i looked around and realized that i didnt recognize any of the staff there, so i'm assuming ownership or management has changed over because it has been a completelt different experience.

I had the same experience at the Bay Street location for a recent lunch also. An hour wait for lukewarm pasta and a pizza and minimal to non-existent service. I think they're incredibly understaffed because our server wasn't neglecting us, she was just never available. I don't think I'll be returning any time soon.

Not sure about the College location. I go to the Toronto St. Mercatto quite often and have always had a good experience. They've always had fast, courteous lunch service and tasty, decent food. The Bay St. location is usually pretty fast whenever I've been there (except for the line up to get a seat!).

What was the problem?
I was at the College Street location for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Had a respectable four seasons pizza and Mr. Rab had a similarly decent orechiette with sausage (if I remember correctly). Fresh crusty bread to start, some interesting wine picks, friendly and efficient service... and nice cappuccinos to finish. It wasn't life changing (and it's not a cheap lunch), but we were pleased with the meal and service and are planning to head back next time we're in that nabe.
