Burgers - West Village (not corner bistro)

I am looking for a place to get a good burger in the west village. Preferably more restaurant style place than bar location, which is why we don't want to go to corner bistro.

Thanks!

  1. I think the burger at The Little Owl is fantastic.

    1. The burger at The Spotted Pig is fantastic, as is the burger at BLT Burger.

I second BLT. Great burger and great onion rings.

      2. Spotted Pig..is the way to go man...but White Horse surprisingly has a pretty tasty burger for literally 6 bucks and has an outdoor area to enjoy some suds along with it!

        1. You can't go wrong with the other recs. White Horse, especially, is an unusual suggestion, but first rate; if you have a sense of history, Dylan Thomas drinking himselt to death right here. Now, to the one that will bring me brickbats, to be sure, Minetta Tavern (www.minettatavernny.com). Hey, what's $16 bucks for a burger....??

You mean $26 for THE burger.
            And Little Owl is poor.

BLT was pretty good but have not been in a long time.

Respectfully disagree that Little Owl is poor. But I guess we all have opinions and preferences, so to each his own.

No, a way overcooked burger is not an opinion. If you want to claim it is, fine, I cannot argue with that. Perhaps addition results are an opinion of some sort.

And their treatment of the young ladies at the table next to mine
was not very proper. Now, that might be an opinion.
Food is overrated. It is simple, the execution should never be off by such a degree.
And the flavor of the burger was practically nil. I do not think all of that
was due to the, dare I say it, hockey puck nature of what I was served.
And I do not exaggerate. I know the term is a bit much but this case was
far too close. And other dishes seemed to suffer from the lack of care in the kitchen. Honestly, I cannot stand that. Sliders were good but not worthy of the raves. It is OK, food at that mediocre level and price can be had all over town.
That is not an endorsement since most places are not worth eating at.

Maybe it was an off day. I've never had an overcooked burger there. I've always found the meat to be juicy and flavorful and have always been treated well by the staff. Don't know what else to say, other than you've expressed your opinion, I've expressed mine, so let's move on.

          2. yr not gonna eat a burger at 1030 which is when youll get a table at little owl. market table's burger is actually just as good. not sure if its available for dinner. the burger at joseph leonard is fantastic. westville's burger is a classic in the west village.

i love tavern on jane's burger and eat it over corner bistro every single time.

blue ribbon bakery has a great burger too.

i cant stand spotted pig...the wait, the overly salted burger, the inconsistency of the kitchen.
