Myrtle Beach update help needed! May visit looming....Name your 5 favorite places!
Hey Ya'll") New England houndette visiting Myrtle Beach for the 3rd time, but haven't been for 2 years.
Last visit we enjoyed Luigi's Italian, Divine Fish House, Little Pigs(?) BBQ (on the strip coming in from the airport) - great pulled pork.
What's great (or just good) this year? We're planning on hitting Prosser's BBQ at least once, Salt Creek Cafe ditto, but after those I have nada.
Love great BBQ, fresh not fussed with fish and seafood, great Thai and Chinese - in other words where would you go for your last 5 meals in Myrtle Beach/ Murrell's Inlet?
Thanks so much - I'll return the favor if you're ever in the Berkshire Mountains in western Mass!!

My family has a house in N Litchfield Beach, so we are in the area a lot. In my opinion, you need to go to Murrell's Inlet or Litchfield for good food. Here are my faves:
Capt. Dave's Dockside (Murrell's Inlet) - for an upscale meal
Lee's Inlet Kitchen (Murrell's Inlet) - family setting with great seafood
Hanser House (Litchfield) - another family restaurant with great seafood
High Hammock (Pawley's Island Hammock Shops) -sister restaurant of High Cotton
Frank's (Litchfield) - upscaleAnna

re: Roadpony
Thanks Anna! It seems like the best places are near Murrell's Inlet - we're staying at Marriott Oceanwatch villas so it will be a drive but we do plan on spending alot of time in that area.
Any other not to miss places right in Myrtle Beach?
What about Italian? In the past we've been to Benny Rappas, Rossi's (I think...) & more lately to Luigi's Trattoria.
Any other ideas? How about top Chinese?
Thanks!-----

I have to agree with LaLa and Anna - great lists, both of them. And you are correct - MurrelI's Inlet has many great places to choose from. We particularly love Capt. Dave's Dockside and Lee's. Lee's was one of the first restaurants in the area - and I believe is still run by the same family 60 or so years later. You HAVE to try their fried onion rings, and I love their Manhattan style clam chowder.
Bad news about the Chinese, though - we've been to MB once or twice a year for over 30 years, and have never found even halfway decent Chinese. The best there now is P.F. Chang's; other than that, you'll mostly find "chinese" buffet's. Maybe someone who lives close knows more? I'd surely love to find a great place!-
re: sarahNC
When Wallace Lee died, the family sold the restaurant. Think it has been about ten years ago.
Not a fan of Collectors Cafe.
The best Thai is The Blue Elephant. The owner is a Thai MD, Dr. Paul. Make reservations as they only have a few tables and will turn you down if they are too busy and too busy is five tables. Weirdly it is in the only strip mall in Murrells Inlet.http://www.blueelephantthai.com/
E Noodle is also excellent Asian and it is in Myrtle Beach.http://www.enoodlesmb.com/
Love Salt Creek Cafe.
Will not eat at Biminis since Rick passed. Whomever owns it now does not understand the concept of soap and water. It is nasty.
Mr. Fish is the best seafood on the beach. http://www.mrfish.com/

re: BlueHerons
Actually Lee's is owned by the third generation...Dexter and Kelly Lee Dorman .It has not left the family, they have owned it since 1948.

re: BlueHerons
Thanks so much for your input! E noodles looks intriguing and yummy. Mr. Fish has great prices and is perfectly located.
Do you recommend a meal there even if we're not at the beach at the time?
Sarah, I'm thinking we'll skip the Chinese for Blue Thai and Thai Cuisine or Thai Kitchen.
I think Murrell's inlet will be a longer drive with the thousands of Harley Bikers coming that same week. ;>D
Can't wait!Blue Herons, where do you go for Italian?

re: itryalot
No, it is a seafood market at 4368 Highway 17 Business that has some tables.Nothing fancy but the food is so good. They have a blackboard with the offerings such as crabcakes, po boys, steamed shrimp, oysters,etc....but do not pass up the grouper sandwich....it is out of this world!
It is ran by some younger guys....Their step grandmother is the Crab Cake Lady that has been on a bunch of food shows..... they are the nicest guys. My Husband and I have a ritual when we have our familes in town for holidays that we sneak off to there for lunch by ourselves and watch everyone come in and purchase seafood for their feasts and munch on our grouper sandwiches.
