what could be a good theme for a birthday party? trying to be creative and think of something yummy and fun...

How many people? It sounds like you don't want a sit-down dinner?

20 people. sit down would be ok but not my preference unless it was something great and not too expensive.

20 ppl is a bit large but, pending weather, you could choose a specific part of town and numerical street radius and do a progressive dinner: a place for pre-game drinks, a spot for app's, another for dinner, a spot for dessert, and finally, a place for cocktails. Obviously, coordinating w/ the restaurants of choice would have to be done in advance.

Weather is suppose to be clear but cool so nothing focusing on the outdoors or this would have been much easier.
looking for a spot below 23rd street, east or west and mostly for food more than dessert. most of the guests are foodies so they know good stuff.
Palma carriage house could have worked but fully booked. Any place where it is not a formal sitdown but still a place to sit and hang out with good food. That's ideally what I am looking for..

Do the big pig gig at Daisy Mays. Lots of fun. Need to reserve a day in advance. Same thing at Resto but you get to choose your animal in advance. I am dieing to to try the lamb.

We went to Los Feliz last Sunday. Service was good becasue the place was empty however they were out of all the ceveche from the night before. Excellent, clean flavors but I would never go on a Friday or Sat night.
