  • 7

I will be attending a Conference in Palm Springs for 4 days and need help on good food recs. Looking for good priced meals around $10-$15 for breakfast and lunch. Need a good Special Dine Night.. already been to Roy's and Flemings. Not interested in Mexican food since I get so much of it in OC. Very open to Asian or other ethnic Cuisines.

  1. Really recommend Elmers on Palm Canyon Drive for breakfast. Really good pancakes. There is usually a wait on weekends.

    1. Thai Smile - North Palm Canyon Drive. Last time tried their Tom-Yum-Kai .. it was so outstanding that my GF and I could not stop eating it until it was just gone.. Excellent curry (try the green curry scallops) .. Family run, friendly, with a very good drink menu as well.

      1. Johanne's on Indian Canyon is consistently good and highly rated. It's our favorite for special dinners. Austrian chef - innovative cuisine. Some menu items haven't changed in a while, but they're still excellent. Occasionally interesting game on the menu (i.e. kangaroo). Good drinks and wine list. Others on the board have commented on the coldness of the space, but it's never bothered us. Service is always superb, knowledgeable and unobtrusive.
Heard good things about Le Vallauris but no first hand experience. High-end French.
For greasy spoon breakfast try Bit of Country. We never tell our foodie friends we eat there, but they all seem to know about it.

I will second dinner at Le Vallauris. My wife and I enjoyed a great evening there. Excellent service and food.

        2. City Wok is good for Chinese, I believe in several locations. One being in Palm Desert.

          1. Breakfast or lunch: Cheeky's, Sherman's Deli, Manhattan in the Desert, Pinnochio's.

Dinner: Jake's (new and very good, priced right, too), Le Vallauris (best special dine out place, for my money...French-accented but not stuffy, outdoor seating under huge trees). If you're into calves' liver, Shame on the Moon (Rancho MIrage) serves some 50 plates of it a night.

Just for fun: Shanghai Red's...sit at the bar and watch the action.

            1. Spencer's is a great option for a business breakfast or lunch. Cheeky's is popular and good, but jammed on weekends and on the spendy side. Lots of options for casual breakfast/brunch, like Rick's, Elmer's, Kings Highway, Bit o' Country, Peabody's. Many are within walking distance of the Convention Center.
