Should I give Maverick's another try?
DH and I ate there last night, conveniently arriving about 5 minutes after they ran out of roast beef. They were also out of white kaiser rolls; the only bun choices were onion and pumpernickel.
We got brisket and a pulled pork sandwiches, both on pumpernickel. (I've had too many bad onion rolls made with dehydrated onion--gag--so we chose the only other option.)
I was definitely underwhelmed. DH liked the pulled pork a lot, but I would not go back for either.
Is the roast beef head and shoulders above the brisket and pulled pork? Pls advise. I have no plans to go back unless someone persuades me that it's worth the trip.
Thanks.

re: BigE
Does anyone know what cut they use?
Wally's also has a delicious roast beef sandwich:

I have been there seven or eight times and all but one was a good experience. The one time, my roast beef was so dry I had to get au jus just to be able to swallow it. It was around lunch time so I know it wasn't the fact it was an off time. But everyone has a bad day so I will definitely give them another try. Its still on an off day is better than the gelatinous loaf you get at Arbys. When its good, its really good.
