Looking for good Indian delivery (and other delivery as well!) near Vic Park/ Danforth in East York

Hi all!

We have a 2 year old so we don't get out much but we do regularly get delivery and/or takeout. We've found it difficult in this neighbourhood to find places that deliver and are any good.

Any suggestions for good delivery (especially) or take-out places? Indian is what I'm looking for right now and there are a ton of Indian places...just not sure where to go. We also like most other types of food (Thai, pizza, greek, etc. etc. etc.), so please keep the suggestions going!

A place I have had now a couple of times recently is Tropical Thai located just west of Vic Park and Kingston.

Have to say, not fancy but hot (really hot) and tasty. Mango salad and their soups are both quite good. Way better thai delivery that Green Basil or any of those other spots. Free delivery over $18 and two free spring rolls with orders over $20.

While I haven't tried it, 'New Kebab House' (2928 Danforth, near Shopper's World) is supposed to be good. I spent a couple of months in Bangladesh this year and the really memorable meals were at the good kebab houses in Dhaka. Since then I have asked a couple of Bangladeshi cab drivers where to go for good kebabs and they have mentioned that place.
They have haleem as well, which can be incredbly tasty.

I went here today and was disappointed as they were not open at 12:15. The storefront says they are open 11:am on Sundays and the web site says 12:00 pm .
I called them at 12:30 and they said they are open now and the staff arrived late or something but by that time I was in Makkah near Donlands station enjoying their magnificent Bihari Kabab.
I must say that not sticking to the time table is highly unprofessional though I will give them a try some other time.I liked that neighborhood. Have you tried Hakka chopsticks next door to them?

October 17th is a public holiday in Bangladesh (Durga Puja), so maybe it had something to do with that.

I think it's called Ali's at Queen and Scarborough Rd. Excellent selection of dishes and they deliver.

There is also Poonam Delite on the Danforth. They are very nice and they deliver day and night. The food is not world beating, but it's better than most Gerrard Indian joints.

We ran into the same problem as well...

Here are our picks for the neighborhood so far...

Siddartha located in Little India does pick up & delivery... 4164654095. (it also has a buffet for eat-in dining, but if you order a la carte, it is made to order & you can specify level of spiciness.)

Seabreeze for Chinese take-out - located on Kingston Rd - 4166908880 - always fresh & fast (chicken balls - a guilty pleasure - made with huge chunks of white meat)

Diamond Pizza - 2 locations - one on Main St 416-691-1777 & the other on Danforth in Scarborough 416-269-1269 - made with cheese on top of everything.

Hey thanks I had no idea BBQ hut delivered - growing up, that was my family's Indian restaurant of choice (30 years ago)! More recently I've had excellent naan bread from them. We'll be ordering soon.
I live near Makkah and have ordered from them. Not a big fan. I think they used to have another location near Vic Park.

Just curious JULESRULES - I was thinking of trying Makkah - but you don't like them? I have used BBQ hut delivery many times, they are very dependable, but I usually only get their naan, and any other meats they do in the tandoor oven. What don't you like about Makkah?

I'm also curious what it is you don''t like about Makkah. My wife and I like it, actually she's asked me to get some order some takeout from ther as we haven't done that for a few months now. (only because with our new kitchen, I'd rather cook at home) Friends who have tried the take-out we bought at Makkah also thoroughly enjoyed it. There's nothing much that is negative that I can say about the place.

What's not to like about Makkah? Probably the most authentic Pakistani food in the city. Naan to die for and do not miss the bihari kebab, it's a little piece of heaven.

I live quite close to Makkah. Over the years - not all that recently because I gave up on the place - I have been given tired naan, four dried out chicken breasts when I ordered a whole tandoori chicken, and curried dishes that have very little meat (they were pretty cheap, but I'd rather pay a bit more and not be embarrassed trying to feed my guests). Oh and REALLY tired samosas. And I've never had anything great from there. I read about the naan kebab in another thread and I'll probably try that some day. I certainly don't style myself an expert on South Asian / Pakistani food so please go ahead and try them - they seem to be one of the most viable places along that strip and I'd love it if the mosque remodel led to a thriving business area!

Hi all. Thanks so much for your comments! Lots of places to try.

I think there may be some Makkah confusion. There is a place called Makkah on Danforth, east of Main too as well as the one mentioned earlier (which is in Greek town, correct?). We've had the one near Main and weren't very pleased: found everything to taste the same.

Yes, I've seen that one. Not sure if they are connected, but the one at Donlands is excellent. Especially anything that comes out of the tandoor.

I think perhaps Apple actually meant Seaspray, which is on Kingston at Main as opposed to Seabreeze which in Queen East near Leslie.

We order from Seaspray and the meals usually do usually arrive quickly -- nice and hot.

Haven't tried Seabreeze but have heard positive comments about it.

Ordering from Diamond Pizza is kind of iffy. Sometimes a perfectly made pizza will be promptly delivered to your door; other times, you'll wait an hour and a half for a greasy mess with the wrong toppings.

Makkah delivers if you ask nicely. There is no better Ind/Pak food in the East that I know of. They beat the pants off anything in little India.

Hi. Do you have any idea what their delivery area is? Vic Park seems a bit far (we've discovered that most Greektown restaurants don't deliver anywhere near here and think we're a bit crazy for asking).

I think maybe you replied to the wrong comment? I get delivery to Vic Park and Sheppard all the time from Regino's. Maybe you meant the Makkah comment below?

I think the confusion was that the OP was asking about south Victoria Park. (South of Danforth) Finch to Danforth can be about a half hour drive.

Right, my fault for mixing everyone up. But Regino's does have a location at Danforth and Pharmacy as well.
