Wedding Reception Halls? Reviews?

  • 3

My Fiancee and I have been looking for a good reception for our wedding in 2011 (Aug) It will definately be a Saturday.
We went to Fountainhead in New Rochelle:
Pros:First impression
Andy was a great host.
Place decor is average.
Cocktail Menu looks exceptional.
Dinner menu looked mediocre.
The atrium for Cocktail hour is a plus and seating for 200 guests.
If guests arrive early they can grab a drink etc. before entering cocktail hour.
Large Room beautiful
Bride/Groom night stay at Crowne Plaza in WP
Choice of 3 sizes of tables 10,12,14
Meet and Greet

Cons: compared to other places so far.
When we asked about the Chef that left for (Windows on the Hudson) he went around the question and did not promote their food, chef, etc.
No outside photos since the surrounding areas look poorly upkept.
Small room- nothing to rave over.
Charges 20% average
Must use thier florists
Ugly chairs will need covers
Stairs
2 Ice Sculptures
2 bride/groom attendant

Villa Barone Hilltop Manor Mahopac:
Gorgeous Outdoors- Fountain, Huge Waterfall in process of being built within a few weeks. Lighting LED, Private Bride/Groom Patio, inside decor, chairs,
1500feet away Villa Barone property for photo ops waterview
Gorgeous Rooms
Extensive top of the line fresh food, cocktail hour, All food baking done on Premise
Extensive Venissian hour with entertainment
Fresh Mozzarella maker in front of guests
Fresh pasta maker in front of guests
They make the wedding very entertaining
Any Florist you can use
4 your choice of Ice Sculptures
Choice of 3 sizes of tables 10,12,14
18% fee
4 people for bride and Groom for the day 2 captains, 1 brides, and 1 (I forgot what the title was) I think Maitre D
Hostess for Meet and Greet
1 year anniversary dinner for Bride and Groom compliments on VB

Cons:
Depending on the room you choose one room you may lose guests to the outside. The other room guests must go upstairs for a smoke and most likely come back to the wedding since nothing else is going on upstairs. Not really a con.
Hour for CTH is 5 or 7

If I can think of anything else I will addon

  1. Not sure if you're looking or just letting other people know about these places. I've heard good things about Rudy's Beau Rivage in Dobbs Ferry, but will admit I've never been. My brother recently got married at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was better than all but one wedding I've ever been to and he service was impeccable. The best part is their is a bar/restaurant right next to it called Shadows. We had a rehearsal lunch there the day before and the food was delicious. The prices were very fair according to my brother. The bar actually opened up just for us after the wedding for two hours. They also have a shuttle bus to get from the hotel to the hall. They were so accomodating that the bus actually dropped us off in town at a local bar later in the evening and came back to pick us up in the wee hours of the morning. op notch service and honestly, aside from the drive home the following morning I can't think of one con. They even decorated the bridge over the water in the colors of the bridesmaid's dresses!

I'm fairly certain that Rudy's Beau Rivage has been closed for some time now, I think it may be the Windows on the Hudson that the OP spoke about. I'm not sure either if you are looking for a place or just reviewing but those are in 2 very different areas, if you want to keep looking in the New Rochelle area, try looking at all the places over on Davenport Ave., ex. Beckwith Pointe..... http://www.beckwithpointe.com/ , The Surf Club.......http://www.thesurfclub.biz/, there are several over there. Good luck with your wedding.
