Near waldorf

We will be staying at the WALDORF May 5th thru 10th and would like some suggestions regarding good eateries in the area. Although we are at the Walforf we are not looking for high end eating, just some good food for breakfst and dinner. Open for anything, love all kinds of food, but really love Indian and want to try a good noodle place. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Don't want to spend each morning eating at the hotel!

Walk down Lex to 30th St and have breakfast at Penelope. Outstanding!! On your way down Lex you will pass a multitude of Indian restaurants. Look at the menus and pick one for dinner. Locals call it Curry Hill.
Byblos on 39th just East of 3rd av for Middleastern. El Rio Grande on 3rd Av bet 38 & 37 has good Mexican and outdoor dining if the weather is nice. The Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station is a favorite. Sit at the bar. Rare on the corner of 37th and 3rd is also a favorite. Great burger!

Dawat (58th bet. 3rd & 2nd) is supposed to be excellent Indian (not my thing). Luna Piena is a very nice local Italian restaurant (53rd bet. 2nd & 3rd), Le Bateau Ivre (51st bet 2nd & 3rd), is a cute French wine bar (open 'til 4 am which may be useful after theater); La Mangeoire (53rd & 2nd) is a popular neighborhood French place as is Jubilee (54th bet. 1st & 2nd). You can check all menus on menupages.com
For Breakfast there's a great self-serve place called Dishes on Park Ave - SE corner of 54th. There's an Ess-a-Bagel on 51st & 3rd - counter service & take to a table. For something pricer and nicer, you could walk down park to the MetLife building to Naples 45, on 45th & Park. It will be just opposite you if you go through the walkway down Park Ave.

Others on this board will have good ideas for more Indian and noodles.
