Applewood smoked bacon or just great smoked bacon?

Kathi Apr 8, 2010 02:34 PM

I need some for a dinner party, to go with a pork tenderloin recipe. Any ideas who has a great one? I've tried the usual groceries, Wegman's and Trader Joes. Someone suggested Shady Maple in Lancaster.
Any thoughts?
I live in West Chester, for what its worth:)

Thanks to all of you! I will have gained 10 pounds trying out the bacon - but it will be worth it:)

Green Aisle Grocery sells the to die for bacon that Marshall cures and smokes at Cafe Estelle.

Check with an associate at Trader Joe's. They do sell a apple wood smoked bacon, they just do not always have it.

If you're up for a drive, go to Illg's in Warrington. You'll find a traditional, high quality German butcher that has great wurst in addition to terrific bacon.

I get great double smoked bacon at the Fair Food Farmstand in the Reading Terminal Market. It comes from Green Meadow Farm in Gap PA - might be able to find it elsewhere
