Hi Foodies,

My boyfriend's bday is next month and i have been trying every morning to get seats at Minibar but to no avail...yes i got on the waiting list but i dont foresee that kind of luck. So can anyone suggest another memorable dinner?? (We have already eaten at Citronelle) Would be open to anything esp. Sushi, American, French, etc...

Thanks :)

      1. I second all the above suggestions and would add perhaps the new small bites tasting menu at Poste? Marcel's is wonderful French, but very rich. Sushi Taro for sushi and amazingly fresh fish.

thanks for all the posts. Anyone know of a really good tasting menu (in the dc area)??

Most of the above places all have them... Sushi Taro, Marcel's (they don't do a tasting menu per se, but the whole menu is set up to be tasting portions, Poste's 30 bite menu is a tasting menu. Komi. ILW and Restaurant Eve all do tasting menus...

The sushi bar at Sushi Taro, where the chef serves you omakase that he prepares in front of you. Only six seats. My favorite meal in DC so far.

          2. My boyfriend and I had an incredible celebratory meal at Restaurant Eve. Totally worth the trip out the Old Town Alexandria.

Other places to consider: Komi or Equinox.

Komi's tasting menu blew my mind - I so wish I could afford to go there on a regular basis! I have only had the Lickety-Split lunch at Restaurant Eve, which is the best lunch deal in town, but judging from the quality of that, the tasting menu there must be divine.

            2. CityZen is amazing and has a tasting menu.

              1. I would avoid the Restaurant Eve tasting menu. We were not very impressed. It was pretty and the service and atmosphere was outstanding, but the food was overall very unimpressive. I prefer the bistro at Eve. (I know I am a lone dissenter here.) Not that you can get in but we were blown away by the tasting table at Volt. I would try Komi or CityZen next now that Teatro Goldini isn't available for tasting any more (well at least not with Enzo).

Actually, you are not a lone dissenter -- we were not impressed by the tasting menu at Eve either -- our experience there was very disappointing on several levels.

I would say that the most amazing tasting menus in DC are Komi and CityZen.
