Will Gary Danko satisfy an unadventurous and picky eater or is it a waste of money

Hi SF Hounds,

I'm coming to SF Labor Day with my fiance who is is not a hound. He doesn't eat fish at all and is generally picky and likes plain food. I have not been to Gary Danko yet and would love to try it.

Will he find enough to satisfy him or will he be frustrated and will we be wasting our money? He would probably be looking for beef as a main course.

On a side note, is A16 still worthy? I was there two years ago and loved it and would like to go back.

TIA

  1. Danko will be great for him. He can easily have a filet as his main dish, and have some simple appetizer and dessert. You can have fish and choose more adventurously.

    1. I'm a big A16 fan though the entrees have never wow'd me...I usually stick with appetizers, pasta and pizza (my favorite pizza in SF) and leave happy.

      1. Gary Danko is definitely a good choice for a picky eater. When we were last there, I skipped the fish course and got 2 appetizers instead (they made my second appetizer larger to compensate). If he's a meat lover, he can pick 2 meat courses instead!

They pretty much let you pick and choose however many you want from each category and he can avoid all the fish and other "frou-frou" courses he might not be interested in. There's certainly a lot of simple, hearty food that can probably satisfy his tastes.
