Giacomo Conterno

Great article by Asimov on the NYTimes. Lucky bastard!

I have always loved his Barberas and thought they were excellent value, even given the relatively hefty price tag. And this is one of the few Barolos I have tasted that the Riserva is much more approachable than the regular bottling. The Monfortino is, IMO, the greatest Italian wine produced. Also found it fascinating that the blog mentions the production of the Monfortino in 02 where no Cascina Francia was made.

    No argument from me.
