Ottawa breakfast?
Dear Chowhounds:
I'll be visiting Ottawa for the first time in years this weekend. Breakfast's my most important meal; I'm staying in a fancy hotel right near the Rideau Canal, but usually prefer a cool diner or local hangout. Suggestions much appreciated......
Of course, other recommendations welcome!
Thanks.

I lived downtown for a few years (Somerset and Elgin). Your best bet for Breakfast is definitely The Manx (370 Elgin St), a tiny pub with wonderful food and relaxed ambiance - but I'm not sure if that's close to where you'll be (the Rideau Canal covers a lot of ground). Also in that area is Ceylonta, a really good and not too expensive Sri Lankan.

There is also the Scone Witch at 388 Albert near Lyon. Depending on where you are staying (there are quite a few fancy hotels near the canal) it would be a nice morning walk. There is also Benny's Bistro in The French Baker in the market (on Clarence near Dalhousie) which does a nice breakfast. You can also just have great croissants or french pastries and coffee there

We like Dunn's. There are a few in the area - a good cheap breakfast with amazing bagels. MMMM
