Blue Room brunch for a vegetarian??

Hi Boston hounds, I'll be visiting your fair city this weekend and am looking for a Sunday brunch spot for 4 people. I've heard good things about the Blue Room, but I'm a mostly-vegetarian (I eat fish) and their online brunch menu is super meat-heavy. Can anyone tell me if there will be things there for me to eat besides scrambled eggs, enough to warrant the $23 price? If not, any other brunch/lunch recs in the Cambridge or South Station areas?
Thanks very much in advance!

  1. Hey, I live a bit outside of Boston and am a vegetarian. There is one breakfast spot that is a bit eclectic but definitely caters to the need for veggie bacon and veggie sausage lovers. They also have plenty of creative dishes that will fill you up without draining your wallet. Check out the Friendly Toast in Cambridge.

    1. I was there last summer, so my memory is vague. But I remember that they did have fish, eggs, and waffles. Along with their pastry buffet. I know that their menu changes, so perhaps you can call them and see about this weekend?

The Friendly Toast might also be a good option. It is in the same complex as Blue Room with an extensive menu. If the weather is nice they to have some outdoor seating.

Also in that complex is Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC) that does a Sunday Brunch. The menu is a hit or a miss, but they do have veggie options and a lot of outdoor seating.

      1. I don't know how typical the Easter brunch is, but based on my recollection, while it's a very meat heavy buffet, there was a lot at last wekend's brunch a vegetarian could have eaten. Off the top of my head, these were vegetarian (not vegan) and fish options.

        Mixed Greens with pineapple vinaigrette
        Cucumber tomato salad
        Asian noodle salad
        Fried Plantains
        Grilled Salmon
        Mahi Mahi Ceviche
        Clam Chowder
Pancakes (with brown sugar bananas mmmm)
Scrambled eggs with stuff in them (didn't try them but the looked vegetarian)
Dessert table is laden with breads, fruit and pastries
Spicy Bloody Mary (hey, it's part of brunch! :-)

FYI - clam chowder usually is made with bacon, and thus is out fir anyone who does not eat meat.

        2. I love the Blue Room brunch but i wouldn't recommend it to a vegetarian.

          1. I wound up going to the Blue Room because reservations were a must for this outing and Friendly Toast didn't take them. It was fine for me -- no ceviche, but plenty of other things to eat, including perfectly cooked salmon. Thanks all!
