  1. I love the veggie burger at Southwest NY in the financial district - made with black beans, and served between corn cakes (like arepas). Best with sauteed mushrooms and a side of soft corn pudding or maduros. Yum.

    1. I really like the vegetable burger at 5 Napkin Burger. It's made from portabello mushrooms and beets (and maybe other stuff). I know that sounds weird -- at least I thought it sounded weird first time I asked -- but it's really tasty. Be forewarned: it's huge and it's messy. But all in a good way! (It comes with fries, but I believe they'll sub salad or other stuff if you ask.)

      1. My vegetarian friends love the ones at Quantum Leap. Ridiculous name, but they make them in house supposedly.

I'll second this rec, they have a great spicy veggie burger that I think is great. And i'm not a vegetarian.

        2. I like the veggie burger at Stand quite a bit. I think it's even better than their normal burger, which is about slightly above average. And their sweet potato fries are the only ones that I've found at a restaurant are crispy.

          1. The veggie burger at Film Center Cafe on 9th Ave. is one of my favorites. It's delicious, and comes with avocado, sprouts, and sweet potato fries.
