Rainbow Cake Recipe

I am looking for a Rainbow Cake recipe that not only has five to six colors but the cake is flavored accordingly, as well. Such as the yellow being lemon, the green being lime, etc. My guess is that I could use jello, but how much????

Thanks,

Nikkibakes

My MIL used to make "Rainbow Cake" back in the 60s and 70s, she only used one color though...I think. I should pull out the recipe. It was just a sheet cake make from boxed white mix, with holes punched in after baking, and jello (usually red) poured over. When set, it was topped with Dream Whip. She was a real from scratch cook but this one was great anyway. Maybe she put sprinkles on top for the "rainbow" effect?

White cake mix + food coloring (gel gives the brightest colors) + a few drops of extract in whatever flavor you want.

Frankly, the 5 or 6 flavors is kind of... flavor overload.

Mine looks similar to this! http://www.omnomicon.com/rainbowcake

I make the cake normal though. I don't know wtf a diet cake is and would surely laugh and throw one on the floor if ever served to me!

I agree with you on the "diet" cake. But - on the other hand, if no one told you and you liked it, then what do you do. Personally, I think I could taste it. Its just like diet sodas. One sip and I know immediately. Can't stand that stuff!

Google for this, I'm sure you'll find some instructions. Either jello or separate the batter, flavor and color it accordingly and marble it together gently or blob into the pan in sections.
