Looking for a bar with outdoor seating-Not in the Gaslamp

sds Apr 6, 2010 01:11 PM

Had a party a Lei Lounge last year...and looking to do something simliar this year. I was trying to think of a bar (not in the gaslamp--looking for a more laid back, cheaper ambiance) that has outdoor seating...

Does Small Bar have outdoor seating?
Does Tornado have outdoor seating?

Any other thoughts/suggestions are appreciated!

Jaynes Gastropub has a great outdoor area for a party.

Oh, yeah, it has a great patio. If you don't mind the kitsch, Alcapulco's in Old Town has a large patio. Or, better yet, the 94th Aero Squadron has a patio that looks out onto Montgomery Field.

Toronado and Small Bar have small patios. Small Bars only has a couple of tables while Toronado has several picnic tables. They might let you rent the back out, but it is walled up so there isn't much of a view.

Arterra at the Marriott in Del Mar is not bad. Also I hear the Bali Hai has been remodelled but I haven't been there in years.

Ritual Tavern, while beer only, has a really nice outdoor patio.

Cantina Mayahuel has a nice patio

            Agreed on Ritual

Starlite has a good patio but it's probably not any cheaper than the Gaslamp

Urban Solace's patio is great but it's not really a bar if that's what you were looking for.

En Fuego up in Del Mar has a nice patio but the food and drinks are pretty mediocre

Il Fornaio's Enoteca in the Del Mar Plaza has a very relaxed, "California" feel to it with outside seating on their ocean view deck.

World Famous or the Green Flash in PB..both oceanfront.
George's has a patio bar in LJ.
Love the Bali Hai that was just remodeled but don't know if its open yet..
Fish Market downtown has a great patio bar bayfront..Island Prime with the $5 happy hour M-F.

JRDN in PB has a nice oceanfront patio as well. Price point is closer to Gaslamp than the other PB places though.

Actually, most bars in PB have patios. Not that I'd want to go to most though.

Small Bar has two tables outside. Shakespeare Pub & Grille, on India Street has a great deal of outside seating.

Maybe not cheaper but it's laid back - how about The Tractor Room? No one ever mentions this place.

Went there for an event on their outdoor patio and had a good time. Good apps.
Wait staff was very friendly and didn't disappear when you needed them.

The Pearl in Point Loma is fun for an outdoor party. More expensive then Lei Lounge (but, better food and drinks), but cheaper then the downtown scene and you can hang around the pool watching old movies. If you're striving for something centered more on beer, find a driver/van and take the party to Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido. We've had parties at Lei, Pearl and Stone and they've all worked out great.
