Discovery at Porto's...I swear it tastes like a Jelly Krimpet

I like the round, single serving rum cakes at Porto's bakery. This past weekend I saw that they offer a rectangular one with something reddish in the middle. It turns out that there is a layer of guava jam in the middle. The strange thing is, it tastes like an over size Tastycake, specifically the Jelly Krimpet. Yum!

I grew up on Krimpets. They were my favorite snack cake as a child. Nothing tasted quite like them. I can't wait to get to Porto's to try it. Now if you cane just find something at Porto's that tastes like Weaver Chicken Roll...

Guava Rolls come with or without cheese and have a crusty texture.

What I am taking about is actually a rum cake called a Borracha that has a layer of guava in the middle.

Oh I love tastycakes! Would have my ex buy me a box every time he came back from Philly for business. Is it called a rum cake? Just want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks.

I'll have to check that pastry out. I love Portos. There's just so many pastries yet so little time. Aside from the pastries, I love the Opera cake!
