Coming up to the city for a business lunch on Thursday and need a good restaurant for a business lunch with top execs. They have already said no to Le Cirque, but any other recommendations would be great!

  1. I love Caviar Russe (Madison, 54-55 Sts.) for a business lunch. The food is very good and it is quiet and private for conversation. They have a good selection of sushi, cooked fish, beef, and duck, and a prix fixe that is a steal at $19.99 weekdays. It's on the second floor in a space that is like a beautiful jewel box with murals and chandeliers.

        1. Is it necessarily fine dining? I think Dos Caminos, which is right by there, would be a good place to take clients/partners... higher-end Mexican fare, with highly-regarded guacamole, but then again, I'm in advertising and enjoy drinking margaritas with clients. Also, if you're interested in a real New Yorky experience, Mexican is one of the few cuisines NYC is not known for, so there's that.

            1. If prices aren't an issue, I've used the following places for business lunches/dinners:
              Smith & Wollensky
              Avra
              Alto
              Aquavit
              The Modern

              Good luck!

                    1. Chiming in again for Alto, and seconding The Modern.

                      1. Seconding Alto (very good), followed by Avra and Brasserie. If you're willing to travel a subway stop or two north or south, you might try Gramercy Tavern or Per Se.
