Slumdog Indian Food
A chance I would find the Best Indian Dishes at Surabhi during the Lunch Buffet for $11.99. I was disappointed at the Atmosphere as the owner or staff had their family in tow or the workday. Secondly, I didn't find the dishes to be outstanding at all. I was recommended to Surabhi by and India Native who also is a local Physician. I tried the Tikki Masala that was on the buffet which was the best of anything I tried. The Naan was overdone and the other items on the Buffet were not their best effort. I had India Cafe, Kabobi, and Tandoor to compare the this trip too. I would not recommend Surabhi. You will find the food and atmosphere and wait staff 10 times better at the Tandoor located in Bloomington. Great take out at India Cafe..

Its been a while since i was there, but i do recall rather liking our food for Surabhi, despite it not being very close to where we used to live in the cities.
Id say that it was a combination of buffet, ordering northern items at a place that serves both (why would they serve both? because people expect CTM and naan at indian places, although i think this is changing).
i cant be certain, but i seem to remember a really good chole battura from our last visit there, took me right back to delhi.

It looks like the Surabhi might be owned by south indians. Judging by their menu selection:

I will agree with you that the atmosphere is lacking, but I would not judge this place by the buffet, even though I've rather liked it the two times I've been. That being said, that price seems higher than I recall.....
In regards to Tandoor, I just posted a few weeks ago on how I felt that Tandoor had really fallen off. Just too many corners cut. We wont go back, sadly.
I have yet to do takeout at India Cafe, and will give it a try b/c its really close to my home.
