New Buffalo Mich - Looking for a great bakery and other good eats

We will be spending a weekend in New Buffalo later this year and am wondering if there are any really good bakeries nearby. I am willing to travel 20 - 30 minutes to get really great fresh breads and rolls every day.

I am also interested in any other good restaurants or grocery stores in the area.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ramberg's Bakery in Union Pier makes fresh bread and pastries. Next door is Milda's Corner Market--a neat little grocery store with a wide selection of Lithuanian products (breads, pastries, teas, etc.). Lots of restaurant choices: Brewster's (Italian) in New Buffalo, Bentwood Tavern in Marina Grand Resort, Timothy's (seafood) in Union Pier, Fitzgerald's in Sawyer. Hannah's is closed.

Do not miss the crepery place in New Buffalo. I think the name's Annepierre. It's a husband/wife establishment in a beautiful old small house. I'm a meat and potatoes 'kinda guy but I love this place. This is an absolute "don't miss!" Hanna's is also pretty good; nice atmosphere in another old house. There's a place owned by the hotel just down the street from it. I don't remember the name but the hotel will urge you to go. Didn't eat there but, though pricy as is everything connected to the hotel, it looked very nice. Once again, I can't remember the name, but there's a place right in town that used to be a pizza place that has expanded. It was very, very good. Right up the hill from the hotel, on the right (south) side of the street. These directions sound crude but the town is so small, anyone will know what I'm talking about.

This should fit the bill perfectly: the Swedish Bakery in nearby Harbert. A regional legend for probably at least 50 years. Used to go here as a kid vacationing in Michiana. http://www.harbertswedishbakery.com/h...

Ditto on the Harbert Swedish Bakery! We stop in when we go to Warren Dunes!
