25th Wedding Anniversary - restaurant suggestions, please?

My husband and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks and we are looking for some place to go to celebrate. We're pretty unpretentious people but we like good food. We don't go out much because we prefer to cook good food and drink great wine at home but you only have a 25th anniversary once! I'm looking for some recommendations. Places that I have checked out online so far include: Veritas, Mildred's Temple Kitchen, and Gilead Cafe and Bistro. We're definitely into local fare. We're looking for a great meal, a great atmosphere but not so upscale that we have to "dress up". I prefer to be kind of dressy/casual, i.e., really nice jeans and a pretty top. I look forward to your suggestions!

  1. First thing that comes to mind is Globe Bistro. Nice enough, casual enough, local fare. There's also Earth, but I currently prefer Globe out of the two.

Globe was the first thing that came to mind for me as well.

Avoid Globe the food is mediocre at best and the service I had was horrible. If you are going for local and Canadian cuisine you have to go for Gilead and the chef who is the father of the movement .

I third Globe. The food is good, the service is friendly and space is lovely without being over the top.

I also support Globe Bistro as a great choice for good 'local fare" food, good wine and good friendly service.

Another option might be Weezie's -- good food and service and atmosphere.

        3. check out Nota Bene, the food and service are amazing! my husband and I eat out a lot and I have been to Gilead and to Mildred's recently and like them both but I think the food at Nota Bene is really special.

          2. Thanks for your recommendations. We went to Globe Bistro last night and had a lovely time. Food was great, service was friendly and the overall ambience was just what I was looking for. Since our anniversary is not actually until Tuesday (which is not a good day for celebrating), the celebrations continue at home today with a special home cooked meal and some champagne!
