      1. Whenever I do that drive I like to stop at the City Limits Diner in Stamford, CT. It is just off I-95. It might not qualify as great food, but it is a good upscale diner with more modern food than what you might expect at a diner.

        1. Lot's of people I know rave about Rein's deli in Vernon CT, about midway through the drive. Although I've never been myself.

+ 2 for Reins. It's our pit stop on the drive down to NYC. Only had breakfast and lunch there but I'm sure dinner would be good.

+3 for Reins. If you'd rather, the Vernon Diner is 200 feet away and also a favorite.

                  #4 piling on.
We eat there every trip, one direction or the other.
We often share the smoked fish platter, with a couple of bowls of soup.
Their deli sandwiches are very good, too.

          2. I'm not so fond of Rein's (who ever heard of a deli without hard salami?) but Town Line Diner in Rocky Hill is just off of I91, and it's got great breakfasts.
