One thread or multiple threads?

I have been enjoying the discussion and helpful information on Chowhound.

I have started a thread in the San Francisco board seeking advice on an upcoming trip to SF, Sonoma and Napa. The thread is getting long, which I am fine with. It covers, food recommendations in the areas that I am visiting with my wife. I like how the thread is altogether, so that I can use it as one reference for my trip.

However, I am now starting to get into the discussion of wineries, which I am very interested in. I am wondering, if Chowhounders generally prefer (or are more like to read) a new thread on that subject , because it is more topic specific, and does not have many posts to read; or if they are more inclined to return to a thread that they have been following?

If it were me, I'd start another thread with a title that specifically indicates the direction you would like it to go (wineries in the region). That way you new queries will not get lost in the longer thread that is focussing on food.
