Need recs for a decent bar on the upper upper east side

Having dinner at Rao's tonight (yeah, we have a friend of a friend with a table) but would like to meet up for drinks first somewhere on the East Side in the high 80's to 90's. May wind up at Elaine's (we're only drinking, after all) but this is not my neck of the woods, any good bars that are not twenty something singles places? Just looking for a place to chill for a bit and have a good martini or two.

Caffe Notte on UES in the 80s is a cute wine bar

vero is a small but cute wine bar. never been but i imagine the bar at parlour would work for you.

Eek, my then boyfriend (now fiance) used to live in the east 90s and all the bars we ever went to were extremely dive-y. The entire neighborhood was like a giant frat house!

Elaines is not a bad idea, but here are a couple of others: Parlour (1600 3rd Ave @ 90th), DeMarchelier (50 E. 86th @ Mad), Jacques (206 E 85th @ 3rd), and Cafe d'Alsace (1695 2nd @ 88th). No hats on backwards, mostly grownups; DeMarchelier can get crowded 'cause the bar is small.
