Back from SF getaway - had some amazing food - reviews inside!
Backroad Pizza - review in another post below
Tecolote Cafe - better than average but not blow my socks off...the bakery basket was awesome though
Chocolate Maven - oh em gee - heaven on earth in the middle of industrial SF...my husband had the ner ve to say there was TOO much butter (and he is a lover of butter) but no way....eggs, potatoes, coffee, green chile, pastries...all heaven!
Tune Up Cafe - loved it as well - husband LOVED his corned beef and hash and said that it's the best he's ever had...I had my third chile relleno of the trip and it was the best of the three...love the vibe too and very nice staff!
Maria's - rec from a friend who is a lover of chile rellenos like me - great salsa and the cheese in the rellenos was interesting in a good way....waaaaaaaaaay too strong of a marg though...is that possible you ask? Yes. Gulp.
El Farol - highlight of our trip...been before and loved it then and love it even more now...Spanish goat cheese, grilled shrimp in margo chipotle sauce, fried avocado, salmon ala plancha....and an uber tasty malbec to go with it all? Perfection. Period.
A lovely trip overall and some of the best meals ever - need to take a wee break from green chile for a bit but I will revisit again in the near future. Thanks Santa Fe!

Glad to hear you had a nice trip. Here's a possible answer to your question about the marg. If one travels from sea level to Santa Fe, the effect of alcohol is heightened by the altitude.
I catered a party at Hyde State Park, up near the ski basin and several big dudes (as in 6'3") from Michigan had to lay down on the stone slabs, after just a few drinks.
