Ft. Lauderdale Italian for a Group
I'm arranging a weekend for 10 college friends (now in our 40s) and I'm looking for a classic Italian American red-sauce restaurant. It's definitely something we're missing out here in Seattle, and I'm hoping you can lead me to some great lasagne, spaghetti with clams, parmagiana.... We'll be staying at the Westin Diplomat. Thanks.

I lived in FTL for 10 years - up until 4 years ago. My favorite italian was Cafe Vico. I have not eaten there in 3 years - but it was always excellent. I liked it better than D'Angelo. Pastas were always fresh and sauces were garlicy - the way I like it.

There are 2 good Italian restaurants within reach. One is Anthony's Runway 84 (not exactly a neighborhood redsauce joint) is great for a crowd and the food is great. Casa D'Angelo is the best in S Florida but perhaps too pricey.
For red sauce Cafe Mortorano is noisy but is what you are requesting. Be careful ordering. The portions are huge.-----
