New Bakery/Cafe W. Broadway

North side 3200 W. Broadway the place that took FOREVER to surface has finally done so.

Called French Bakery With a Twist (or something equally foolish) it's on the location of an ancient Greek Bakery who's owners retired.

Anyway the space has been opened up considerably and the focus is on French-styled pastries/breads.

First day today so I didn't expect much but the Staff member who served me was energetic friendly and helpful, the rectangular piece of Pizza ((I know,I know) however was unremarkable.

There's a small lounge-like area in the back and a honking big space-age coffee making machine to round things out-prices for pastries at least on the high side.

Overall looks to be a positive addition to the 'hood and the place was hopping this afternoon with some items already sold out.

I had the individual sized St Honore cake - light and delicious.

- close by le bon ton ? i wish them well. nice to have a place to hit before or after a flick at the hollywood.
- i know nostalgia is an illness- but i hanker for the days when this stretch was known as ' greektown '.

Other side of the street next block west-still lotsa Greek 'n the hood-that hasn't changed too much.

- used to be like the danforth in toronto (obviously on a smaller scale ) or monroe st. in detroit. like i said- it is just ' nostalgia ' i am talking about. i enjoy neighbourhoods that are distinctly international. you are correct however- still lotsa greek.
