need help figuring out what this fruit is:

read an article recently that talked about a fruit that gives the eater a sensation similar to eating pop rocks. my google skills are failing me on this one and i'm completely unable to find the name of this fruit. can anyone help me!?

    I tried them at the New Amsterdam festival in Manhattan last year. They are as advertised: like a little electric shock in your mouth.
