Between Gov. Center and South station?

I am meeting up with an old friend for drinks this afternoon and am unsure of where we should go. I am picking her up at Government center and then we are heading towards her train in South Station. I can think of some spots that would be good for nighttime drinks but, since it will be afternoon, not sure if they would be open. Any suggestions? We could always do the Kinsale but I was hoping for some other ideas.

Woodward is right next to the gov't station stop and should be open in the afternoon.

      woodward is open all day.

oceanaire is a beautiful space for drinks, and also open all day.

Marliave is open for lunch. Closer to South Station, Radius serves lunch still don't they? Not sure if these places have a gap between lunch and dinner time.

i've wanted to like marliave, but it has consistently underwhelmed and disappointed. they can't mix drinks and it's supposedf to be a craft cocktail bar.

hey, ivy is open all day and has a good inexpensive wine by the glass program.

So we went into Silvertone but ended up at Marliave. I had never been there before and wanted to check out some place new. I can't speak for the drinks as I drank wine but the food was good and the atmosphere at the bar was just what I was looking for. I thought that I saw somewhere that they have an outdoor roofdeck in the summer... is this true?

How about the Silvertone on Bromfield St. It is pretty much in between Gov't Center and South Station. I would also suggest Kingston Station on Kingston St. (also right in between Gov't Center and S. Station). Lastly, you could always do lunch in Chinatown.
