I always get the curry noodles with tofu--I get the soft tofu and I get the boiled egg, which they usually leave off the vegetarian version. But I choose to order it with tofu even though I eat meat--it's so delicious...

          Hi sourgirl,

I recently had their sauteed mustard greens and they were tangily delicious (and very popular among my dining companions who kept wanting another taste!).

So, yup. I think their vegetarian dishes certainly can be as wonderful as the meat & fish.

          Ciao,

The SRI watercress salad is world famous! - do any CH cognoscenti know how this originated at SRI. As far as I know, something similar is not on any local THAI menu and a GOOGLE search nada. I assume it's Ms SRI very unique invention as watercress doesn't seem to appear in any THAI stuff I've looked at.

In thailand i've had plenty of fried morning glory salads, but usually with a lighter, paler dressing and not with both seafood and chicken.

The dressing and the use of both seafood and chicken are unusual to me. And I always assumed they used watercress because it was more readily available here than morning glory.

The salad started as a special that was then put on the regular menu when they expanded, so it could very well be their own creation.

Whatever its origins, it certainly is delicious.

They have a whole veg menu.

I personally like the veg version of the watercress salad better than the regular.

Otherwise, you are probably better off choosing dishes that rely on coconut milk rather than fish sauce. My veg daughter likes the veg version of khao soy.

Their Khao Soi is to die for. I get it every other time I go there. Their drunken noodles are excellent and I have been promised they are fish sauce-free. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything on their vegetarian menu.

What's the name of the weird mushroom on the veg version of the watercress salad? Not the oyster mushroom, but the transparent one that reminds me of jellyfish (and others of tripe).

not sure. isn't that cloud ear fungus or something like that? i enjoy it.

the same one's in the pork with ginger and peanut salad, right?
