Where to buy Rao's pasta and sauce?

I recently moved to Uptown Dallas and have been looking for Rao's products to no avail. I can always buy online, but I'd rather avoid the shipping costs. Does anyone know which stores in the area sell this stuff? Thanks in advance.

  1. If anyone would have it, try Central Markets. Best selection of everything food-wise in Dallas (or Austin, or most of the other markets they service).

    1. Central Market, for sure! Although, Mario Batali's sauces are better. Also available at CM.

      1. You can buy Rao's and Gia Russa at Wal-Mart in Lewisville (Main) and the Highland Village stores.

I don't believe they carry the pasta though.

        1. I've picked up a couple of jars of the sauce in the bargain bin at the Tom Thumb at Alma and GBT in Richardson.

I was not impressed with the sauce but I do own Rao's Cookbook which for me is the de facto source for New York Italian-American "red sauce" restaurant type recipes.

Seen it at Albertsons too. Not too allusive.

          2. For a jarred sauce, Rao's is really pricey. I believe WFs has it. A few years back, I got a free jar of Napa Valley Bistro sauce at CM and thought it was pretty good for jarred. It was also half the price.

I've never tried the Rao's brand, so can't compare, but I agree that Napa Valley Bistro (Fire roasted w/Cabernet) is very good - besides CM, I've seen it at Wal-Mart (Grapevine), but not all varieties.

            2. I noticed Rao's sauces at Whole Foods (Lomo Alto) today.

              1. I don't know why anyone that lived in Uptown would seek out Rao's, when Jimmy's is so close.

                1. Super Target always has it, and it's usually a bit cheaper than the grocery stores.

                  1. I don't know why anyone living anywhere would buy a jarred sauce when making your own is so easy and, so much better tasting.
