Chili Addiction and Soda Pop's

The stretch of La C. between Beverly and Melrose has a few new-ish places that are very promising, casual eating-wise..

The deep, bright red shop caught my eye as I pulled into Blockbuster and the magic terms "chili" and "house made sausages/hotdogs" got imprinted on my retina. Next thing I knew my feet walked themselves right into Chili Addiction for lunch on Saturday. This place is REALLY, REALLY great.
They have super delish, creative chili's (steak, chicken and vegan - about 3 varieties each), as well as homemade mustards, ketchup and a wonderful sauerkraut. I had a great chicken bratwurst (sorry purists) and it was very moist and tasty with a better "snap” than most poultry-based dogs that I've had.

I have not yet tried Soda Pops yet but the sandwich menu looks great: who wouldn’t want a B.E.L.T. - BLT with a fried Egg?! And homemade Chips and Pickles too.
Has anyone been?

  1. Chili Addiction is in the old Boule space, is it not? How are the prices / serving sizes, Bob?

(and only a block away from Vito's - a very dangerous stretch of blvd for those minding a waist!) ;-D>

I think it is very close to that space, if not exactly it.
Quite reasonable prices - 8 bucks medium size bowl of chili, large is 10. There's a very good trio chili sampler, I cannot recall the price, but that and a sausage was 19 with tax.
Size of medium chili bowl was like your average cereal bowl filled to the top.
Hotdogs and sausages were "regulation" sizes.
I don't think you will feel you've been taken to the cleaners nor that you've robbed 'em blind. Fair. Fair for WeHo.

Oh yeah, there's a prime rib burger, 9.99, my Mom had at dinner and really loved.

They seem quite dedicated to home/house made high quality at a fair price.

I suspect lines, big lines, in their future. It is quite small.

I never went into Boule, but I read that its space was split into two and thus Chili Addiction is half of that space. I've only been to C.A. once so far, but enjoyed it thoroughly and plan to go back. Had the chicken verde chili and it was great.

But I *love* Soda Pops! I'm a sandwich sandwich sandwich guy, and every one I've had there has been superb. So far I've had: meatball (A+), roast beef (A-), italian (A), and egg salad (A). I'd kill to have this place near me for lunch, but as it stands I can only make it there on weekends. But note that they are open till 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Thanks for the soda pops info...the dude at Blockbuster was raving about the meatball sub too.

        2. Funny, I just learned of C.A. are their fries? Their menu claims that they are Belgian. Have you tried their vegan variety of meat and cheese?

Fries were good, very good...substantial but not thick, very crispy and salty. Loved by the adults and kids in my group...none were left.
I tired a bean chili sans meat, I don't think they do "vegan versions" just non-meat chilis, but they may -- so close to Real Food Daily they may need to!.

          2. Chili Addiction is very good. I love Chili Mac and they have it. It's $8 and very filling. The big surprise is their ice cream. Red Velvet Cake was fantastic. I've had their more mild and spicier chili's and liked them all. It's good to find good Chili since I had a really bad experience at Jinky's in WeHo.

Soda Pop's? Pretty good sandwiches. I also liked the Potato Chips. Maybe not a destination place, but one of the better sandwiches in WeHo (which isn't saying much).

That's right, bsquared2, I forgot to mention the 'scream.
I am not an ice cream guy but the rest of my family loved their Caramel Ice cream with Salt too.

Does Chili Addiction offer a Cincinnati-style chili? That's impossible to find in LA and if they do it, I'll be there instantly. The late, lamented owner of Chili My Soul kept promising that he would add Skyline-style to his choices, but sadly he took that promise to his grave.
