Chock Full of Nuts Donuts and Bread

When I was little my mom would take us every week shopping downtown Brooklyn and we would have lunch at Chock Full of Nuts...my sister and I would get a hotdog, orange drink and a sugar coated donut and my mom would get a nutted cheese sandwich. Is there anywhere in the city that makes a similar donut and what kind of bread was that...date nut doesn't quite cut it.

Very interesting, thank you. I have had a lot of people talk to me of fond memories of those whole wheat donuts. Will be nice to have them back.

Also interesting that they are now owned by the Italian firm Zanetti. Who would have thought?

I used to get exactly the same thing.

Can't figure out why those donuts were so good. Weren't they whole wheat?

There were a full take out type Chock Full of Nuts Cafes scattered around the metro area. Not sure if they are still around and/or what they have besides coffee.
