Fresh Turkey

I'm looking for a fresh turkey for easter. Also I'm looking for a resource to get fresh turkey or turkey breasts year round. Any ideas in the Dallas area? Thanks

Central Market sells fresh turkeys and turkey breasts, pretty much year round. The turkeys are their HEB brand, and I can vouch for them, as I have smoked quite a few. Oddly, you can't buy them at Thanksgiving. At Thanksgiving, they pull all of their HEB turkeys, and you are forced to buy a much more expensive "organic" turkey at $3.00/lb or more. But, other than Thanksgiving, Central Market carries fresh turkeys that are good and fairly priced...I'm thinking $1.29/lb..

      Split bone-in, skin-on, turkey breast = 2.49/lb.

Grill/roasted this the other evening (after brining) and it was disappointingly tough. Don't think I'd buy another.

Market Street has them, too. I bought a Butterball one for our Thanksgiving this year.

I had no idea Butterball did a fresh turkey!

I started buying Mary's free-range turkeys for our family Thanksgiving after my mother cooked a Butterball & it had this horrid artificial taste. Well worth the money to never have to taste that again ... and definitely more flavorful than a standard (factory farmed) turkey. I know Whole Foods carries Mary's as well, but don't know about year round.
